Requirements:
Eliminate production downtime due to caseinate vat thickening
Method:
Review current agitation technique taking into account fluid properties
and fluid requirements. Evaluate various methods of agitation to
determine the best suited to the fluid.
Solution:
A complete redesign of the agitation systems for the 3 reaction
vats. Agitators were changed from helical and pitched blade type
to all flat blade turbines. Mechanical fabrication drawings were
prepared, approved and issued. All agitators were designed with
gearboxes and VSD's.
Result:
Incidence of thickening was substantially reduced.
